The tribe has spoken!
When Fitness From Africa member and now staff member at our Lonehill Exercise & Sports Centre, Letshego Moshoeu, told me quite secretively four months ago that she was selected to participate in Survivor Maldives, all I wanted to know was “what the tribe had spoken”?  Sworn to secrecy all she was allowed to share was the fact that it was a wonderful experience and although quite tough, she would definitely do it again.  Little did I know that she made it all the way to the final two!
If you are a fan of the program, please show your support for Letshego by SMS’ing her name to 37177 as this year the public opinion will count as one out of the eleven votes at the final Tribal Council next Thursday, 26 May 2011.
We always knew ultra runners are tough, go Letshego!!

Comrades 2011
With little over a week to go, Comrades hopefuls are just about beside themselves in eager anticipation for the gun to go!  It's taken over half a year to prepare for this big day, and somehow we can’t wait for it to be over.  At this late stage there is often a question mark over some runners’ races due to niggles, the sniffles and the mind playing tricks as the big day approaches.  In essence there is not much more to be done than just allow time to take its course and for the day to arrive.
Whether running or not, it's a hugely exciting day and special one for South African runners, as well as other sports enthusiasts, past and present.  Many will sit glued to the plasma screen for hours on end until not only the gladiators up front have thrashed it out for top honours, but also for each pair of deserving legs to cross that finish line.
Comrades day is such a special day, and I want to urge Fitness From Africa members and all other participants, to make the most of it.  You will travel on a route that has been covered by thousands of runners since 1921.  Some great names have undertaken the journey and you will be part of something very exciting, and your name will be added to the history books!  Sure, it's going to be tough, but make the most of the day and soak up the vibe, the route, the challenge and the experience.  The aftermath is often a bit depressing for those who completed the race, so make the most of the day and challenge yourself to triumph over yourself and to conquer the Ultimate Human Race!
Comrades time!
